Big Data is Big News. This week the industry is buzzing with IBM’s news that their number-one priority for the coming years is going to be data. Given that their investments in data and analytics are driving significant growth, top management have revealed that two thirds of IBM’s Research arm will now be devoted purely to data and analytics. The Big Blue’s Chairperson Virginia Rometty claims that IBM has “built the world’s broadest and deepest capabilities in Big Data and analytics—both technology and expertise.” IBM to date has 15,000 people in the field. Encouraging news yet again for all those who are betting their future on Big Data. Read their Chairperson’s letter in their annual report for more buzz on their data plans.
